It is very important that a child’s native language and culture is reinforced during the process of learning an additional language. By using both languages at home you can help to ensure your child to gain the confidence to achieve high standards in both languages. The school offers advice on a range of ways for parents from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds to support their child at home, and to ensure effective two-way communication.
Additionally, curriculum evenings provide parents in our learning community with opportunities to find out more about and experience the school’s approach to Literacy ie. from phonics learning and upwards through the school. Parents are encouraged to attend such sessions as an important means to understanding the school’s approach to learning and teaching as a whole.
